About FlexCoat
FlexCoat exists because we saw a lack of flexibility in residential painting. Whether driven by budget, scope, or out-of-touch pricing models, too often homeowners are left dissatisfied either by substandard work or surprise adjustments along the way.
We saw an opportunity to do things differently. To deliver more options alongside exceptional painting work. Where others see limitations because they’re focused on margins alone, we see an opportunity to lead and deliver a better way forward.
For us, painting begins long before paint is ever applied. It starts with a warm hello, an attentive ear, and genuine enthusiasm for helping bring an idea to life. We value the trust you place in us to work on your home or property, and we approach every project not just as if it were our own but as part of our legacy.
About the Founder
FlexCoat was founded by Jose Rivera, a painting professional with more than two decades of experience across residential, commercial, and specialty projects. Jose was raised in the painting trade, working alongside his father and other veteran painters from a young age. After serving two tours in Iraq, he returned home and took over the family business, growing it until his father retired.
Built from experience, not shortcuts.
His work evolved from high-volume new construction with home builders to hundreds of renovation projects with real estate investors throughout the Carolinas, where efficiency, problem-solving, and value were critical to success. During that time, Jose honed his skills and deepened his product and materials knowledge by working across a wide range of homes from newer builds to older properties with varied surfaces, substrates, and conditions. That hands-on experience taught him what works, what doesn’t, and that momentum matters more than markup.
That philosophy continues to shape FlexCoat’s approach today: finding smarter ways to deliver premium results while mitigating unnecessary costs. As Jose transitioned into residential repaint work, long-term relationships and repeat clients became the foundation of the business.
In addition to his trade experience, Jose holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and economics from Queens University of Charlotte and studied contracts at the University of Miami Law School. That background reinforces FlexCoat’s commitment to transparency, ethics, and advocating for the customer’s best interests at every stage of a project.
